Let’s get our love of Alexis’s debut single ‘Happiness’ out of the way first. It’s a corker of a song – with a ripper Deadmau5 sample and a chorus that hits all the right notes. It even made the top ten in our 2010 Singles Of The Year countdown, despite it coming late in the year and our prediction that it would be all over summer radio playlists was right on the money.
BUT, along comes the second single ‘Good Girl’ (not ready to impact in Australia just yet). It seems the producers may have decided they were on a winner with ‘Happiness’ and had their ears and eyes on replicating the former’s success. For our money, however, it doesn’t work anywhere near as well.
The ‘hurry hurry hurry’ and ‘quick quick quick’ have been replaced with a repeated ‘I know I can be a good good girl’ and a slick and innovative video have been superseded by a studio-based production complete with choreography.
There’s plenty to like about Alexis and with the right songs, styling and direction, there’s no reason that she can’t become as big an artist as the Rihannas and Katys of the world.
However, we’re sad to say that this all just feels a little formulaic – which is an intense disappointment after such a scintillating debut.

I love it :( It’s totally hypnotic, it’ll be huge.

The Freemasons mix is way better! I like it more than ‘Happiness’ in fact.
