Casey Barnes first rose to prominence as the vocalist on Marco DeMark’s dance reworking of Elton John’s ‘Tiny Dancer’ a couple of years ago. It was a club hit right across Europe and secured plenty of support from dance radio locally.
But it was in the final season of Australian Idol in 2009, making it all the way through to the top 12, that he performed a selection of soft rock songs to a national audience.
But he’s not been idle since, digitally releasing an independent EP in May last year and an album in August.
And he’s kicked off 2011 with a track called ‘Never Break You’ – a song he hopes will really make a difference in the lives of the people of Queensland.
The singer, who lives on the Gold Coast, has committed to donating 100% of the proceeds of the song to the Queensland flood relief appeal.
“I’ve been sitting at home wondering what I can do to help with the devastating floods here in Queensland,” he said. “I recorded ‘Never Break You’ just before Christmas and I was planning to release it later this year but given the subject matter of the song it would be selfish of me not to get it out and try and help right now. All proceeds from the sale of this song will go directly to the Queensland Flood Appeal so I’m urging all Australians to get behind it.”
The track is currently top 40 on the iTunes chart. Show your support HERE.
