CHICANE VS NATASHA BEDINGFIELD : Bruised Water
British dance music artist Chicane really hit the big time with his 1999 single ‘Saltwater’, which featured a vocal sample by Irish folk singer Máire Brennan. It hit the top ten in the UK and was the first of his singles to hit the top 40 here in Australia. Six years later, New Zealand singer songwriter Natasha Bedingfield (sister of Daniel Bedingfield) released a track called ‘I Bruise Easily’ from her debut album ‘Unwritten’. On paper the two songs were like chalk and cheese, but somehow Chicane melded them together to spectacular effect for the 2008 single ‘Bruised Water’.
The clip features a poor girl who seems to be a little under the weather. She’s completely parched, so some kind gentleman helps her find her way to the nearest water sources. Sure, he could have just popped down to the local Night Owl and bagged himself a couple of bottles, but no… He’s on a quest. Turns out things aren’t always what they seem on the surface.
