We don’t quite understand Australian radio’s neglect of Nicole Scherzinger’s solo career – let’s face it, without her the Pussycat Dolls would be relegated to being purely a dance troupe.
‘Poison’ was a great solo single – it hit the big time over in the UK. ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’ is another strong pop tune that most certainly wouldn’t sound out of place on today’s radio playlists. Blending R&B with straight out pop, it’s less frenetic as its predecessor, but no less spectacular a pop song.
The clip, though relatively simple, features Nic in a variety of set-ups, from the back of a taxi to an all but stripped apartment. But it’s the final chorus where the lights and wind stream through the windows like a scene from ‘Close Encounters Of The Third Kind’ that it really steps up a notch.
If this track was by the Pussycat Dolls, it’d be all over Aussie radio and a subsequent top ten smash. Shame then that they pay so much attention to the artist and not the song, ’cause for our money ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’ is pretty perfect pop.

Hey JimJim,
Thanks for the heads-up. Glad to know that someone in the UK music business is finally starting to take things seriously.

AuspOp, RE: UK digital releases.
Did you hear about the new ‘on air, on sale’ standard in the UK which started this month?
Universal and Sony have both implemented the policy, so that as soon as a song hits the radio in the UK, it’s available on iTunes.
See here:

So, because Nicole is with Interscope (Universal), the song should already be at digital retail (I know it’s not) – so are Interscope not agreeing?

Hey Anonymous,
No word on a local release for Nicole’s single just yet. It’s not even been serviced to local radio. No doubt we’ll let you know when it does.

when is the single available on itunes – australia?

This is better than ‘Poison’ IMO, both the song and video! She just needs to come here for a few days of promo and I’m sure her career could take off.

Poison was a great song that one it’s ok…

Hey Brad,
Nothing on the Aussie horizon just yet for this tune.
Stupidly the UK continues to make people wait for six weeks before they’re able to legally buy something digitally.
Australia, thankfully, is a little more aware that tracks need to go to digital retail quickly after their radio release.

Will there be an Aussie release, because the UK one is March 20 and that is way away?

‘Poison’ was amazing! I actually heard it in Fantastic Furniture the other day. I mean, if they can play this great tune on their ‘Fantastic Funiture’ radio in store then commercial radio really need to have a look at themselves. ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’ is incredible!

Thank you for sharing this :D I love this song so much so I really hope radio pays more attention.
Both the song and the video are much better than Poison as I felt that song tried too hard to be trendy. But as you’ve written, this is pure pop magic.
