Can you believe that it’s almost that time of the year again? Yes, in less than 50 days, some of the kitchest, some of the wildest, some of the craziest performers in all of Europe will take to the stage in Dusseldorf, Germany, for the 56th running of the Eurovision Song Contest.
As always, the competition will be broken up into three sections – Semi Final #1 (on Tuesday May 10), Semi Final #2 (on Thursday May 12) and the Grand Final (on Saturday May 14).
The big five (United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France and Italy) automatically qualify for the grand final, while the other 38 countries will battle it out for the remaining 20 positions.
Who’ll make it through? Who’s your early favourite? Who’s the hottest? The cutest? The sexiest? Who’ll have the most outrageous outfit? How many key changes will feature? Who do you think we should all keep an eye on? And will you be playing the drinking game at your place?
So many questions, but only one Eurovision.
SBS will once again broadcast the 2011 competition in three sections;
Friday May 13 : Semi Final #1
Saturday May 14 : Semi Final #2
Sundy May 15 : Grand Final
And as we’ve done for the past couple of years, auspOp will take a daily look at the contestants for Eurovision 2011, including a little info on the performer and a video clip/live performance where available. You have been warned.
