• He may have only just left our shores after his performances at Good Vibrations and a few different media commitments, but Sony Music has serviced the new Mike Posner single to Australian radio. ‘Bow Chicka Wow Wow’ is the third track lifted from the singer’s album ’31 Minutes To Takeoff’ and follows his triple platinum smash ‘Cooler Than Me’ and his gold certified hit ‘Please Don’t Go’.
• Sony has also sent out the new Michael Jackson single ‘Hollywood Tonight’, while along with the aforementioned new Selena Gomez track, Universal Music has sent out new singles for Take That, TV On The Radio, The Audreys, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool and Don Diablo ftg. Dragonette.
• EMI has a swag of new tunes out this week, including the first tune from the new Gorillaz album. It’s called ‘Revolving Doors’. There was the new Snoop Dogg & David Guetta single and the Alex Turner track ‘Submarine’.
• Speaking of Snoop Dogg, EMI has revealed via their latest schedule that the release date of his forthcoming album ‘Doggumentary’ has been pushed back. Originally slated for a March 25 instore date, it’ll now drop in Australia on Friday April 15.• Also new from EMI this week was ‘Rock N Roll Is Free’ (pictured) – the lead single from the forthcoming Ben Harper solo album ‘Give Till It’s Gone’. The LP drops on May 13.
• Sydney R&B fans are in for a rare treat with two special live shows coming up next Friday night. US R&B star Trey Songs will perform a very special show at Home Nightclub on Friday March 25, while shortly after on the other side of the CBD, R&B group Next will take to the stage at Gypsy Lounge in Darlinghurst. Tickets for both are on sale now.
• Sparkadia’s show at the Metro Theatre in Sydney on April 01 has now officially sold out, prompting concert organisers to add another date at the venue. They’ll play the second show on Saturday April 02 at the same venue, with tickets on sale now.
• To celebrate the release of Avril Lavigne’s new album ‘Goodbye Lullaby’, Sony Music is giving you the chance to win tickets to her exclusive live show on the 2DayFM rooftop in Sydney. You have to ‘like’ the Sony Music Facebook page to enter, so click HERE for more.
• On the UK singles chart this week, it’s still all about Adele. Her track ‘Someone Like You’ simply won’t budge from the No.1 position and the only challenge in the top ten this week is the No.05 debut from Wiz Khalifa with his track ‘Black And Yellow’.
• And it’s a similar story on the UK album chart, with Adele maintaining her run at No.01 with her album ’21. Elbow pops in at No.02 with their new album ‘Build A Rocket Boys’, while R.E.M., Noah And The Whale and Avril Lavigne debut at Nos.05, 08 and 09 respectively.
