The recently released ‘Songs For Japan’ compilation album, put together to aid the recovery and rebuilding effort in Japan following last month’s catastrophic 9.0 magnitude Sendai earthquake, has found instant favour with the record buying public, bulleting to the No.1 position on iTunes across the globe.
Throughout the world, the album has sold more than 250,000 copies in its first week on sale, culminating in a donation of $2 million to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
Its tracklist reads like a who’s who of the music business, with artists from all the major labels coming together for the common good.
Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Rihanna, David Guetta, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Bruno Mars – they’re featured among the first dozen or so tracks. Black Eyed Peas, Pink, Cee-Lo Green, Bon Jovi, U2, R.E.M. and Michael Buble are others who have contributed.
The 36 track double disc version is now available in retail stores, but for digital fans, buy from iTunes HERE.
