• Expat Sydney singer Lenka will release her new album ‘Two’ in mid-May. It’s difficult to believe that it’s been almost two and a half years since she dropped her eponymous debut, which contained the refreshing single ‘The Show’. ‘Two’ is set to drop on Friday May 20.
• Universal Music has announced the upcoming release of a 30th Anniversary edition of Icehouse’s legendary debut album ‘Flowers’. The LP contained the singles ‘Can’t Help Myself’ and ‘We Can Get Together’ and spent almost 12 months on the charts after its release in 1980. The re-release will contain a disc full of live recordings along with a DVD containing rare live footage. It’s also out Friday May 20.
• The Beastie Boys have released a star-studded two minute teaser of the forthcoming ‘Fight For Your Right – The Sequel’ video, hinting that a full 30 minute video is set to drop soon. Included here are funnymen Will Ferrell and Jack Black, Susan Sarandon, Elijah Wood and more. Check it HERE.
• Sydney outfit WIM (pictured) will release their self-titled debut album on Modular in late May. Described as a “densely beautiful album”, ‘WIM’s May 27 release will be preceded by the single ‘See You Hurry’, which hits radio tomorrow.
• Country starlet Taylor Swift took home the Entertainer Of The Year award at the Academy Of Country Music Awards, held early this week in the United States.
• And speaking of the US… On the Billboard singles chart this week, the No.1 position is once again in the safe hands of Katy Perry and her current hit ‘E.T.’. Rihanna maintains the No.2 spot, while the Black Eyed Peas are surging behind her, moving up two spots to No.3 with ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’. Adele enters the top ten with her latest single ‘Rolling In The Deep’.
• And in the US albums chart No.1 position it’s Britney, bitch. Brit debuts at No.1 with her latest album ‘Femme Fatale’, holding off Wiz Khalifa’s album ‘Rolling Papers’, which debuts at No.2. Radiohead, Snoop Dogg and Mary Mary (remember ‘Shackles’?) are the other top ten debuts for the week – at Nos.6, 8 and 10 respectively.
