GETTER JAANI : Rockefeller Street
Can you believe that the Eurovision Song Contest kicks off tomorrow night in Dusseldorf? It’s flown this year – and this, the Estonian entry, is our penultimate look at the contestants for Eurovision 2011.
Getter Jaani, just 18 years of age, is known throughout her country as a contestant on ‘Eesti Otsib Superstaari’ – Estonia’s answer to the popular Pop Idol franchise. She was just 16 when she competed and finished fourth in the competition, going on to release two singles on the back of her appearance.
Now she takes another step up – this time representing her country at Eurovision, where she’ll take part in the second semi-final to be held in Dusseldorf this Thursday.
We’re really loving the instrumentation used in the verses here – kinda like a music box combined with a ticking clock – and then the chorus bursts in, Getter turns it up a notch or five on her vocals and the whole thing comes to life. Kinda cool.
And don’t forget that the ace team at EMI has given us five copies of the official 2011 Eurovision Song Contest double album to give away! Click on the giveaway link in the right hand sidebar for all the details on how to enter!
