LUCIA PEREZ : Que Me Quiten Lo Bailao
Back in 2002, at just 17 years of age, Lucia Perez won the Spanish TV singing competition ‘Canteira de Cantareiros’. Nine years later, she’s competing again – this time for her country… and Eurovision glory.
After beating all comers in the ‘Destino Eurovisión’, she’ll hit the stage at the grand final – Spain automatically qualifying as one of the ‘big five’ that also includes the UK, Germany, France and Italy.
The track is called ‘Que Me Quiten Lo Bailao’ – roughly translated to ‘They Can’t Take The Fun Away From Me’ – and it’s a bright, breezy affair with a video clip that embodies celebration. And what a celebration – there are some weird and wonderful looking characters in all manner of brightly coloured costumes that would make Gaga blush.
