• How quickly things change in the world of music. No sooner had we been growing increasingly excited that the release of Christina Perri’s album ‘Lovestrong’ was just over two weeks away than a press release comes through telling us it’s now due on July 15. Her single ‘Jar Of Hearts’ has raced into the iTunes top ten.
• We hear that the new version of ‘What Happened To Us’ may not be the last time that Jessica Mauboy and Stan Walker will work together, with an insider hinting that the two have recorded a duet that will see the light of day before the end of the year.
• The boys from Above And Beyond, visiting our shores in September for a national tour, have announced their support acts. They’ll be touring with Canberra born DJ Jaytech and British dance music producer Mat Zo. The five date jaunt kicks off at Perth’s Metro City on Friday September 09.
• Independent songstress Prinnie’s fortunes took a major turn for the better this week, with the team at Nova giving her a national add for her single ‘Lion’. Check out our recent Q&A with Prinnie HERE.
• Warner Music has confirmed the forthcoming release of the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album. It’s called ‘I’m With You’ and it was recorded in Los Angeles and Malibu with producer Rick Rubin, who’s worked on the band’s previous LPs. The 14 track album is slated for Aussie release on Friday August 26.
• Once again, Adele’s single ‘Rolling In The Deep’ is the No.1 most played track on Australian radio this week.
• ‘Rolling In The Deep’ also continues to hold steady atop the Billboard singles chart over in the United States. LMFAO’s ‘Party Rock Anthem’, currently at No.1 in Australia, is making a surge for the top – hitting a new peak of No.3 this week, while country star Jason Aldean’s ‘Dirt Road Anthem’ races into the top ten at No.9.
• And on the US album chart this week, Adele has regained her No.1 position with ’21’, disposing Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ after three weeks. The original cast recording of ‘The Book Of Mormon’ makes a surprise splash at No.3, with debuts at 4, 5 and 6 for Tech N9ne, Ronnie Dunn and All Time Low respectively.

Well Done to Adele, I must say I have never been more pleased for an artist’s success.
I’ve been a huge fan since going out on an instinct and buying 19 back in January 2009 off the back of a 5 star review and a 30sec preview of Chasing Pavements, I haven’t looked back. It is great to see Australia finally embrace this great talent. Also it’s great to see real talent atop the charts, not generic crap.
