• Given Monday’s public holiday, we thought we’d wait ’til we had a few more tid-bits of information up our sleeves before popping out a news wrap. But we’ll start with Universal Music this week servicing the new single for US pop/rockers Neon Trees. ‘Your Surrender’ is the third local single from their album ‘Habits’ and comes hot on the heels of the announcement of their forthcoming tour.
• Also at radio this week were The Strokes’ ‘Taken For A Fool’, Cut Copy’s ‘Blink And You’ll Miss A Revolution’ and the Beastie Boys’ ‘Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win’, which features the guest vocals of Santigold. • According to EMI, their Canadian outfit These Kids Wear Crowns are about to take Australia by storm with their debut single ‘Jumpstart’. It’s the lead single and title track from the band’s album, which is due to drop on Friday July 29.• Deadmau5 needs a hand – and he’s reaching out to his millions of fans around the world for the assistance. See, his Mau5head (pictured) is getting a little old, so he needs a new one. The competition to design a new head is open through ’til July 12, so if you think you’ve got what it takes, submit your entry HERE.
• Shock Records has announced the release later this month of the new Thievery Corporation album. The album, the band’s sixth, is entitled ‘Culture Of Fear’ and fans in Sydney and Melbourne will get to experience it live when the boys play concerts in the cities in early August. The album drops on June 24.
• We promised one of our readers that when we found out it’d be on the site… Joe Jonas’ single ‘See No More’ will be released digitally in Australia on Tuesday June 28.• Balance Music will release the follow-up to John Digweed’s successful ‘Structures’ album on June 24. It’s called ‘Structures 2’ (pictured) and will feature three CDs – two fully mixed (one of which is live) and an unmixed disc full of exclusives.
• Due to the mammoth rain event that hit the New South Wales north coast on the weekend, the Bliss N Eso boys had no option but to cancel their scheduled performance at the city’s showground – albeit with just three hours notice. BUT they’ve committed to heading back to the showgrounds to perform for their north coast fans – and they’ve rescheduled the show to Saturday July 02.
• Example’s kicking new single ‘Changed The Way You Kiss Me’ has debuted in the No.1 position in the UK this week. Nicole Scherzinger (whose album is now due in August locally) has hit the top ten again with her new single ‘Right There’ (No.3), while Coldplay’s newbie ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’ comes in at No.6. Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts’ debut solo effort ‘Beat Of My Drum’ came in at No.27.
• And on the UK album chart, the Artic Monkeys have knocked Lady Gaga from her ivory perch, debuting at No.1 with their new album ‘Suck It And See’. Adele stayed steady in the No.2 position, with Gaga dropping to 3. Young opera singer Jackie Evancho struck a chord with record buyers, debuting at No.4, while the Glee Cast and Wonderland debuted at Nos.6 and 8 respectively.

Why wait 2 weeks for the Joe Jonas single? This has venever happened to other Hollywood Records artists like – Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas. Normally it would be released a day after the American release or on the Friday of the week it has been released in the USA. NOT HAPPY:(
