BRITNEY SPEARS : Stronger
While nowhere near as commercially successful as the previous singles from the album ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’, ‘Stronger’ was an absolute corker of a track. Max Martin produced, an anthem for the disempowered, it came along years before Brits was to fall off the rails what in all her head-shavin’, umbrella-wavin’, ‘lady garden on display for all to see’ glory.
The fog horn at the start of the track signalled a warning that something dangerous was to come – it was Brit done wrong by a love and she knew she had to make a point. So with the aid of just a silver chair, she set about setting things right. Mind you, this was no ordinary silver chair, oh no. This one also magically transformed into a silver cane with which the vixen temptress could dance.
Love some of the imagery in this clip – dark, stylish and effective to go with what remains a great pop song eleven years on.
