• British based singer songwriter Mika is repaying the support of the French public, releasing his first French language single ‘Elle Me Dit’ (cover, left) in the country yesterday. • It seemed like a battle of the festivals in Launceston with both the MS Fest and the new Breath Of Life Festival due to be run a week apart at the city’s York Park. But the local council has delivered the Breath Of Life Festival a blow, instead throwing its support behind the six year old MS Fest, confirming it will be held at the venue on Saturday March 03. Organisers of Breath Of Life (the same team who originally created MS Fest) are now having to search for an alternative venue. The Breath Of Life Festival is due to be held on the March long weekend, with organiser Clint Pease telling ABC Radio this week that it too would go ahead, confirming “we have alternate venues, which we will announce.” No doubt we haven’t heard the end of this saga just yet.• The FReeZACentral Program this week launched their latest compilation album. It’s called ‘Mixtape’ (pictured) and has been included in this month’s Triple J Magazine. The double disc compile, supported by the Victorian Government, features tracks from the likes of Skipping Girl Vinegar, Angie Hart and Shihad.

Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Bass’ is up to No.5, while the week’s highest new entry comes courtesy of Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera whose duet ‘Move Like Jagger’ comes in at No.8 off the back of their live performance of the track on ‘The Voice’.
• Soul singer Jill Scott has her first No.1 album on her hands. The LP (‘The Light Of The Sun’) sold 135,000 copies in its first week to beat all comers, holding out Bon Iver’s album (No.2 on debut) and Adele’s ’21’ (No.3). Justin Moore’s ‘Outlaws Like Me’ debuts at No.5, Pitbull’s ‘Planet Pit’ is in at No.7 and Weird Al Yankovic’s ‘Alpocalypse’ comes in at No.9.
