The thing we like most about the new Jason Derulo single is that it takes a giant step away from those autotuned David Guetta-esque dance/R&B hybrids that have been saturating the singles charts the world over for far too long. Jason’s previous single ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’ was a prime example, melding the Banana Boat Song with Robin S’s ‘Show Me Love’.
But thankfully he’s stepped away from the vocoder and the synthesizer trickery here, providing us with a much more raw, stripped back number that allows the song to shine.
Mister Derulo needs to be applauded for not following the crowd on this one.
