• She’s conquered the world with that amazing voice and her latest album ’21’, so when Adele releases a new single to local media, you can pretty much guarantee it’s going to get some chart action. ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ made it into the ‘Most Added’ list in mid-July, but it’ll no doubt be among the top ten additions again next Monday.
• Plenty of other new tracks out to radio this week too, with Wynter Gordon’s ‘Buy My Love’, Cold Chisel’s ‘All For You’, Faker’s ‘Back When Solvents’ and Nero’s ‘Promises’ among those serviced.
• Seems like us Aussies aren’t the only ones who love us a bit of Sony signing Gypsy & The Cat, with the band’s album ‘Gilgamesh’ debuting at No.10 on the iTunes chart in Germany. The band also released a German physical single of their hit ‘Jona Vark’.
• It’s been a heck of a long time coming, has been delayed numerous times, but Joss Stone fans will finally be able to get their hands on a best-of late next month. The name of the album has been changed from ‘Super Duper Hits’ to ‘The Best of Joss Stone : 2003-2009’ and will hit the shelves on Friday September 30.
• Salt N Pepa have added a second show in Sydney to their forthcoming tour schedule. They’ll now also play a second date at the Enmore Theatre – on Friday November 25, tickets for which are on sale now.• Speaking of second Sydney shows, Boy & Bear have added another show in the harbour city on their forthcoming ‘Moonfire’ tour. They’ll also play a second date at the Enmore Theatre – on Sunday November 06 – after their first show (the previous night) sold out. Tickets are on sale now.
• Sneaky Sound System has been announced as the first addition to the line-up for this year’s inaugural Mission To Launch festival in Canberra. The new year’s eve event will take place in Weston Park, with a full line-up to be announced mid-way through next month. Tickets are on sale on Thursday September 29.
• Voting is now underway in the 25th annual ARIA Awards. People in the music industry from across the country are currently voting in all categories of the awards and have to be to be all wrapped up by 6pm on Friday.
• US rapper Xzibit will return to Australia in late November for a series of live performances across the country. He’ll kick things off in Newcastle on November 24, wrapping things up on the Gold Coast on December 11. Most cities get a gig, with tickets on sale tomorrow. Click HERE for all the dates.
• Former X Factor UK star Olly Murs has debuted in the No.1 position on the British singles chart with his latest track ‘Heart Skips A Beat’. The summery track managed to hold off stiff competition from Calvin Harris’ new single ‘Feels So Close’, which debuted at No.2. Will Young’s new single ‘Jealousy’ debuted at No.5, with Noel Gallagher’s ‘The Death Of You And Me’ managing a No.15 placing.
• In what was a pretty good week for Will Young all up, he celebrated the tenth anniversary of his auditioning for Pop Idol with another No.1 album – this time for ‘Echoes’. The album snatched top spot above former X Factor star Joe McElderry’s new covers album ‘Classic’, which debuted at No.2. Wretch 32’s ‘Black And White’ came in at No.4, Barbra Streisand’s ‘What Matters Most’ debuted at No.7 and Hard Fi’s ‘Killer Sounds’ debuted at No.9.
