• Not too much news through so far this week, but Sony Music yesterday serviced the new Imogen Heap single ‘Propellor Seeds’ (cover art pictured) to Australian radio. The English singer songwriter is aiming to gradually release a new album’s worth of material across the next three years, releasing one track every three months with the help of her fans.
• EMI has sampled ‘Homeboy’ from the No.1 US album by Eric Church, along with new tracks from Twin Sister, Pluto Jonze and Jane’s Addiction, while Universal Music has sampled the new Timbaland track ‘Pass At Me’, which features guest appearances by David Guetta and Pitbull.
• Speaking of David Guetta, local fans were champing at the bit this week when the track he recorded with Sia leaked its way onto the net. EMI has subsequently rush-released the track, entitled ‘Titanium’, to our local iTunes store.
• US reality series The Voice finally premieres on Australian free to air TV tonight. The Nine Network will screen the hit show, which features judges including Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine from Maroon 5, each Tuesday night at 7:30pm on their digital ‘GO!’ Channel.
• MTV Hits Channel, meanwhile, will celebrate Beyonce’s birthday early next month with ‘Beyonce’s 30th B’Day Bash’. Fans of the former Destiny’s Child star can tune in from 10am to worship at Queen B’s throne.
• On the UK singles chart this week, as predicted, former X Factor songstress Cher Lloyd has debuted in the No.1 position with her debut single ‘Swagger Jagger’, relegating last week’s No.1, fellow X Factor alumni JLS, to No.2. David Guetta’s back in the British top ten with ‘Little Bad Girl’ at No.6, while Rizzle Kicks is ‘Down With The Trumpets’ and up into the top ten at No.9.
• And on the British albums chart this week, Amy Winehouse maintains her posthumous heading with her album ‘Back To Black’. In fact, the highest new entry for the week came all the way down at No.34 – Viva Brother’s ‘Famous First Words’.
