With Girls Aloud on hiatus for now, member Nicola Roberts continues to forge ahead with her solo career. And although her debut solo offering ‘Beat Of My Drum’ didn’t exactly set the charts on fire – it peaked at No.27 in the UK – she’ll no doubt be hoping to achieve a little higher with her second offering ‘Lucky Day’.
Co-penned by Canadian outfit Dragonette, ‘Lucky Day’ is set to hit retail in the UK in mid-September. Yes, that would be SEVEN frustratingly long weeks away.
It’s a little more mainstream than its predecessor, with a total in-your-face dance-ready chorus that’s aimed squarely at commercial radio playlists up and down Ol’ Blighty. We reckon they’ll lap it up… And the video? Well that’s due to drop in the weeks ahead – it was filmed on a steaming hot day in New York.
Will we get it Nicola’s ‘Lucky Day’ in Australia? Highly doubtful – given we’ve not seen hide nor hair locally of ‘Beat Of My Drum’ yet, our money’s on the ‘negative’ side. Shame.

Sounds much better than Beat Of My Drum. I’m guessing top 15 or 20 in the UK.

This song is epic!
I think Nicola has the appeal to crossover into the Triple J audience here in Australia like Marina & The Diamonds did if she launches with Beat Of My Drum ;)
