Just days after giving the band a long-awaited chart hit for their iconic ‘Khe Sanh’, fans have responded in record numbers for tickets to Cold Chisel’s forthcoming ‘Light The Nitro’ tour.
By midday today, more than 155,000 tickets had been snapped up – a record for any Australian band, eclipsing even the sales for Powderfinger’s farewell tour of 2010.
First shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Newcastle and Wollongong all sold out before 10am prompting the band to immediately add second shows in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Townsville.
Due to the unprecedented demand for tickets, organisers are currently scrambling to organise even more dates, including a second show for Melbourne. The band is also weighing up options for a second date in Perth.
A second show in Adelaide has also since sold out, with the band looking at arrangements for a third date in their spiritual home town.
