• Sony Music has confirmed the forthcoming local release of the new Meat Loaf album ‘Hell In A Handbasket’. The new LP will get a local release on Friday September 30, preceded by the first single ‘All Of Me’ (pictured), which officially hits radio on Monday.
• EMI’s latest release scheduled reveals the local release dates for new albums by both Lady Antebellum and Coldplay. Lady Antebellum’s new LP ‘We Own The Night’ comes first – dropping on September 16, with the new Coldplay album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ dropping just over a month later – on October 21.
• Speaking of forthcoming album releases, country star Gavin DeGraw’s new album ‘Sweeter’ has arrived on the schedule. The new album will drop locally on September 23.
• The local release of Kasabian’s album ‘Velociraptor’ has been delayed by a week. It too will now make it to stores on Friday September 23.
• Organisers of this year’s Stereosonic Festival this week warned patrons of this year’s festivals to be aware of “an increase in fraudulent credit card activity and selling of invalid PDF tickets”. They advise that to be sure the tickets are genuine, only purchase them from an authorized sales outlet.• Montenegrin guitar heartthrob Milos Karadaglic (pictured) will make his first ever trip to Australia next month for a series of promotional opportunities. The performer will arrive on our shores on September 13, spending eight days in Australia in support of the upcoming release of his album ‘The Guitar’ (out September 02).
• Channel [V] will host the Australian television premiere of Jay-Z’s acclaimed ‘Fade To Black’ part documentary part concert next month. Featuring some of the biggest stars of R&B (including Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Missy Elliot, Kanye West and more), ‘Fade To Black’ will screen on September 21 at 9:00pm.
• Tori Amos has revealed another video from her upcoming album ‘Night Of Hunters’ over on her OFFICIAL FACEBOOK. By ‘liking’ her page, you’ll get to not only view the new clip, but by sharing it with your friends, you’ll also get to stream another track from the forthcoming LP. ‘Night Of Hunters’ is slated for a September 23 release.
• Rapper Drapht has added extra dates in Western Australia as part of his ‘Party Party Party’ national tour. He’ll play The Roey in Broome on September 30, The Pier Hotel in Port Hedland on October 01 and The Mermaid Hotel in Mount Dampier on October 02. Drapht has also announced his first ever trip to the Northern Territory – he’ll be at the Discovery Nightclub in Darwin on Thursday September 28.
• Shock Records has announced the upcoming release of the debut album by UK wordsmith Scroobius Pip. ‘Distraction Pieces’ will get a local release on September 23.• Does the team at Amazon know something we don’t? They have a listing for a physical CD version of Jess Mauboy’s latest hit ‘Inescapable’ to be released in early September.
• Katy Perry has hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Music chart this week with her latest single ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)’. In doing so she becomes the first female artist in history to score five No.1 singles from the same album, with the only male to achieve the feat being Michael Jackson.
• Elsewhere on the top 100, Maroon 5’s latest hit ‘Moves Like Jagger’ continues to find favour, racing up to the No.3 position, while Foster The People’s ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ sails into the top ten. The week’s highest debut belongs to Drake with ‘Headlines’ at No.13.
• And on the Billboard album chart, Jay-Z and Kanye West rule the roost with their collaboration ‘Watch The Throne’ selling 436,000 copies in its first week on sale to debut in the No.1 spot. Luke Bryan is in at No.2, the new NOW compilation in at No.3 and Ace Hood puts ‘Blood, Sweat & Tears’ into a No.8 debut.
