News just in this afternoon is that British dance diva Sophie Ellis Bextor will be headed to Australia later this year to perform an exclusive one-off show in Sydney.
Presented by In The Dark, the singer will hit the stage at Homesexual for the event to perform a 30 minute set of her greatest hits for what’s expected will be a sell-out show in front of her adoring Aussie fans.
The event is part of New Mardi Gras’ Big Gay Weekend initiative, which this year replaces the regular Sleaze Ball, previously one of the staples of Sydney’s party season.
So mark it in your diary kids – Sophie hits the stage on Sunday October 02.
Tickets, expected to go like hotcakes, available HERE.

Whew! That would be a relief. I don’t like being annoyed at artists I like, it taints their music. I have my fingers crossed for a Brisbane date… *wish*

Hey JestaCat,
A little birdy tells us this Sydney date may not be her only show while she’s in the country. Watch this space.

Wow, what a disappointment.
Alllll this way for a 30 min exclusive set! She could have sold out minor venues in most states and re-increased her profile in Australia with a tour.
Too many acts recently seem to accept these exclusive shows (festivals etc) which limit their exposure. This is the most annoying example so far…
If it was even a full concert I’d at least think about tickets, air-fares, accom etc to see SEB live… but for a 30 min set? Not even a split-second to decide – ‘Not worth it’.
After importing her last two albums due to poor local release timeframes, I would have loved to see Ms Ellis-Bextor live. Oh well.
