Okay, so we’re probably a little behind the eight ball in posting this video up on the site, as the clip premiered overseas in late July. BUT after much success in the UK with this, her debut single, EMI Australia is focussed on making Scottish songstress Emeli Sande a mammoth success here in Australia too. They’ve serviced ‘Heaven’ to Australian media this week.
Emeli is one of the most sought after songwriters in Britain at the moment, penning tracks for some of that country’s biggest pop purveyors including Cheryl Cole, Cher Lloyd, Leona Lewis and Wiley.
The song itself? There’s something altogether timeless about it. A classic pop song for now that sounds like it could have been written in among the heady experimental pop days of the mid 1990s when Olive’s ‘Your Not Alone’ and Sonique’s ‘Sky’ were so big.
It’s so instantly likeable – and Emeli’s voice is a weapon, standing proud and strong as a force to be reckoned with.
Hands down one of our favourite tracks of the year thus far.
