• The Face The Music Conference, coming up in Melbourne in November, has revealed its first guests for 2011. Manager of the likes of Paul Kelly and Sarah Blasko Bill Cullen is on board, so too Eskimo Joe’s manager Catherine Haridy and The Cat Empire’s manager Correne Wilkie. They’ll be heading up informative sessions, giving hints and tips to potential managers wishing to break into the industry. Face The Music hits the Victorian capital on November 18 and 19.
• Shock Records will release the Rolling Stones’ ‘Some Girls Live in Texas 1978’ live DVD in late November. It will be made available on Blu Ray and DVD, along with special Blu Ray + CD and DVD + CD digipak editions. It’s the first time that ‘Some Girls Live in Texas 1978’ has been made available and it’ll be out on Friday November 25.
• They may be very limited, but extra tickets were released yesterday to all of Meat Loaf’s upcoming concerts. The singer kicks his Aussie tour off in Wollongong on Tuesday October 04.
• The sublime ‘So Frenchy So Chic’ compilation albums are moving into an all new arena. Following on from small live shows, ‘So Frenchy So Chic’ will early next year take to the surrounds of Melbourne’s Werribee Park Mansion for the inaugural ‘So Frenchy, So Chic in the Park’. Catch all the luscious French deliciousness on Sunday January 15.• Abstract Entertainment has announced that former X Factor contestant Andrew Lawson will be the special guest on the forthcoming Aussie tour for US dance diva Taylor Dayne. Taylor arrives in the country for the series of shows in just four weeks time.
• The magic of Adele is far from over in the United States, with her single ‘Someone Like You’ rocketing to the No.1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. It’s up 18 spots this week and knocks Maroon 5’s ‘Moves Like Jagger’ from the top spot.
Lady Gaga’s ‘You And I’ has also bulleted into the top ten – it’s up ten spots to No.6. Cobra Starship is also up ten spots – to No.8 – with ‘You Make Me Feel’.
• Lil Wayne has debuted atop the US albums chart with his often delayed album ‘Tha Carter IV’. He’s even kept the Red Hot Chili Peppers out of the No.1 position – Anthony, Flea and the boys have to settle for the No.2 spot for ‘I’m With You’.
David Guetta debuts at No.5, Jake Owen is in at No.6 and Beyonce is back into the top ten off the back of her appearance at the MTV VMAs.
