DESTINY’S CHILD : Survivor
Destiny’s Child hit the big time here in Australia with the third single from their album ‘The Writing’s On The Wall’. ‘Say My Name’ was a monster hit globally, catapulting the trio of Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle to their second No.1 hit in the US and to their one and only No.1 here in Australia.
The ball continued to roll and not one year later, they brought us this – the lead single and title track from their album ‘Survivor’.
It gifted Destiny’s Child another top ten global hit.
In the clip, the girls go all Tom Hanks/’Cast Away’ on us, washing up on a seemingly deserted island in rather colourfully flamboyant dresses – rescue vessels would see them from far and wide.
But not all is as it seems. It would appear that there are excellent seamstresses on the island and an abundance of fabrics, ’cause there are TWO costume changes. It would also appear that the islanders are relatively good dancers, given they provide a smashing choreographic backdrop within some ancient ruins.
But will Destiny’s Child get off the island? Or are they doomed to stay there forever and a day (Kelly Rowland reference thrown in for good measure)?
