• Martin Solveig and Dragonette recently hit the big time in Australia with their dance crossover hit ‘Hello’. Now rumoured to be working on Madonna’s next single and album, the French producer has delivered a brand new hit with Dragonette called ‘Big In Japan’ – the lead single from the forthcoming Ministry Of Sound 2012 ‘Annual’. It’s one of a selection of tracks serviced to local media this week.
• Other tracks hitting radio this week include Marvin Priest and Fatman Scoop’s new single ‘Feel The Love’, Lady Gaga’s ‘Marry The Night’, Professor Green’s new single ‘At Your Convenience’ and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ‘Monarchy Of Roses’.
• Warner Music has announced the forthcoming release of a brand new album by The Black Keys. ‘El Camino’ is produced by the band and Danger Mouse and was recorded in Nashville earlier this year. First single ‘Lonely Boy’ will hit digitally on Wednesday October 26, with the album to hit physically on Friday December 02 and digitally on Tuesday December 06.• Aussie rocker Jon Stevens will release a brand new album next month. ‘Testify!’ (pictured) will contain Jon’s take on a selection of ’60s soul tunes, along with a range of original tracks. The album was recorded in just 11 days and features classics like Etta James’ ‘Fire’ and Jimi Hendrix’ ‘Freedom’. ‘Testify!’ will hit the shelves on Friday November 11.
• The Breakout Under 18s Music Festival in Sydney and Melbourne later this year is on the verge of being a complete sell-out. The festival, which counts LMFAO, The Bloody Beetroots, The Potbelleez, Marvin Priest and 360 among the artists on the bill, has already sold out in Sydney, with the Melbourne event reportedly not far behind.
• The UK singles chart this week is owned by Rihanna and Calvin Harris’s new single ‘We Found Love’ for the second week in a row, with Gym Class Heroes’ new single (with Adam Levine of Maroon 5 fame) ‘Stereo Hearts’ the highest debut of the week at No.3. Christina Perri’s getting some belated UK chart love with her single ‘Jar Of Hearts’ – it moves into the top ten this week and into the No.4 position. Former X Factor star Matt Cardle debuts in the No.6 position with his second single ‘Run For Your Life’ and Charlene Soraia is into the top ten with ‘Wherever Will You Go’.
• And on the UK albums chart, it seems the British public’s love for Steps hasn’t waned any over the past ten years, with their new ‘Ultimate Collection’ best-of debuting at No.1. Ed Sheeran’s ‘+’ reportedly wasn’t too far behind, with Evanescence’s new album debuting at No.4. Katherine Jenkins debuted at No.6 with new album ‘Daydream’, Jason Derulo was in at No.7 with ‘Future History’, Ryan Adams came in at No.9 with ‘Ashes & Fire’ and Cliff Richard proves he’s still got top ten albums in him with his latest ‘Soulicious’ debuting at No.10.
