The Nine Network has this afternoon confirmed the four celebrity judges who’ll be taking part in next year’s local edition of the US hit TV show ‘The Voice’.
Aussie pop starlet Delta Goodrem has been locked in for the show; so too home grown (and internationally renowned) country star Keith Urban, soul star Seal and Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden (let’s hope Nine works out how to spell his name correctly before they start showing promos – the official Twitter feed for the show has him spelled ‘Maddon’ – HERE).
Auditions for the series have already been submitted – and it’s anticipated that the show will screen early in 2012 on Channel 9.

Joel Madden is practically Australian? The announcement didn’t even spell his name correctly. Seal too is hardly a current household name – and he’ll be touring here, so no coup there, just convenience.

^ Why would we want to see people who can’t even sustain a career in Australia be judges? What credibility would they have? These choices are pretty amazing really. Especially Keith, can’t believe he agreed. I guess Nicole and the family will be moving back here for a while so it works out well for them. Delta hasn’t released an album in more than 4 years, she needs this for a comeback but also has the worldwide success to warrant being a judge. Other than Kylie and Natalie Imbruglia there is no female oz artist with that amount of success. Good Charlotte are practically Australian, and Seal… thats the only strange one. I couldn’t name 1 song of his.

Very disappointed. Keith and Delta are good musically and at least have a connection with Australia. I won’t be watching.

I thought Vanessa Amorosi might be on the show. She’d be great.

A bit disappointed with those judges to be honest. Two overseas acts, one Aussie who has been in Nashville for decades and another Australian who has based herself in the US…was hopeful that homegrown and home based talents would be given the gig.

Hopefully Delta will use the show as a platform to release a new album next year.
