To be fair, we’ve been less than glowing in our reviews of a number of David Guetta’s more recent offerings, given his formulaic reliance on pretty much any and every rap artist to appear on his singles across the past couple of years in the hope of hitting the charts globally.
But there was one track on his most recent album ‘Nothing But The Beat’ that immediately caught our ear – as well as the ear of a lot of the Aussie record-buying public. It was the Sia-vocalled track ‘Titanium’.
Sure, though David originally had Mary J Blige to record the vocals, it was Adelaide’s hometown girl Sia who got the official call-up and in our opinion it was the right call as hers is vocally flawless.
A song about insurmountable strength, Sia delivers the right combination of warmth, emotion, pitch and cracking strength, while David’s pulsing beats kick in over the chorus. Credit where it’s due to Mister Guetta, this is a corking good dance/pop track – and deserving of its triple platinum status in Australia. And they must have known we were honouring it – they revealed the official video (below) just three days ago!
Presenting our Pop Single Of The Year No.07… David Guetta ftg. Sia and ‘Titanium’.
