He conquered the ARIA singles chart with the track last year, it’s gone on to sell more than eight times platinum (sales of more than 560,000 copies) and now Gotye and Kimbra’s all-conquering ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ has taken out Triple J’s celebrated Hottest 100 countdown.
The win doesn’t come as much of a surprise – the single had long been the bookies’ runaway favourite to take out the gong.
He won the accolade ahead of The Black Keys’ ‘Lonely Boy’ in position two and Matt Corby’s track ‘Brother’ at No.3.
Gotye also placed at No.87 with his track ‘In Your Light’ and at No.34 with the Motown-esque ‘I Feel Better’.
Last night he was named Best Male and Artist Of The Year at the third annual Rolling Stone Awards, held in Sydney.
