SWOOP : Apple Eyes
What an ace track this was. Blending funk, disco, pop and a smattering of rock, Swoop rocketed into the Aussie top ten with this back in early 1996. ‘Apple Eyes’ was the band’s biggest hit by a country mile, because it was fun, friendly and commercially accessible, despite strange lyrics like “you and I and a blueberry sky forever”. The psychedelia of it all carried over into the clip too, with the band playing atop a checkered floor in a CGI orchard with pictures of fish and fruit flashing across the screen.
* We’ve given it a heck of a lot of thought, but have decided that it would be ace to throw the ‘Lookback’ segment over to you, our awesome readers – to give you a little more input and involve you more in the site.
