Runner-up in last year’s UK version of X Factor, Marcus Collins’ people have decided that the young singer would be best to tackle a cover version for his first official single – and they’ve decided to drag a track from a different genre into the quasi pop/funk/soul arena.
They’ve pillaged The White Stripes catalogue and have settled for ‘Seven Nation Army’, stripping away the crashing drums and heavy guitar riffs, replacing them with the feel-good funk/pop factor that will no doubt sit incredibly well with fans and TV minions alike.
Production-wise, it kinda reminds us a little of Tyler James’ super 2004 single ‘Why Do I Do’ (HERE).
Not a bad debut, but can we have an original next time, please…
