Well we didn’t see this one coming (that’s a joke, BTW…).
Australia’s Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis fans have gone into total meltdown this morning after the 13,000 tickets for their first Australian concerts sold out in just three minutes.
An extra Sydney matinee show was added to the band’s schedule yesterday to cope with the anticipated demand, but it too was completely sold out by 9:03am, forcing fans to swamp radio station phone lines around the country in an attempt to secure giveaway tickets.
A statement released by their record company Sony this morning said, “We are hopeful One Direction will be back in Australia soon for a national tour, playing more venues and more cities around the country. To register your interest, please go to www.ticketek.com.au to sign up for a wait list.”
A souvenir edition of the band’s album ‘Up All Night’, containing five extra tracks, a fan booklet and five postcards, will be released on Friday March 16.
