The thing that we love about Marina & The Diamonds is her seemingly uncanny knack of being able to maintain an edge on her future-pop competition, with production that tends to bypass most of the latest two-a-penny in-demand producers, thus allowing her to stand out from the pop crowd.
But we’re wondering whether ‘Primadonna’ is a little too Katy Perry ‘Last Friday Night’ for our liking. Sure it’s insanely pop and incredibly listenable, and Marina’s voice is, as always, hauntingly captivating, but the production seems to sound like most else we’ve been hearing on the radio of late. This could, however, be a concerted effort to cross into the mainstream.
Still, Marina smokes up the screen like an old school siren, brimming with confidence, sass and style.
