• New tunes out to radio this week include a Dave Aude remix bundle of the latest Coldplay single ‘Charlie Brown’. The third single to be lifted from the band’s latest album ‘Mylo Xyloto’, ‘Charlie Brown’ debuted at No.94 on this week’s ARIA singles chart.
• Also doing the radio rounds this week (apart from the aforementioned new tunes from Madonna, Roxette and Hot Chelle Rae) are the latest Cher Lloyd single ‘Want U Back’, Chris Lake’s ‘Sundown’ and the new Lana Del Rey single ‘Blue Jeans’.
• We gave you a heads-up about this one last Thursday, but Universal Music has officially confirmed that the new live CD/DVD album by Florence & The Machine’ will indeed get a local release. The new album is titled ‘MTV Presents Unplugged : Florence & The Machine’ and it’ll hit stores here in Australia on Friday April 13.• Okay, so the cover looks like one of those awful Captcha images, but German DJ Kris Menace has revealed his brand new single called ‘eFeel’. It’s the second cut to be lifted from the producer’s forthcoming album ‘Electric Horizon’, which has been described as a “super futuristical space disco LP”. ‘eFeel’ is out now, with the album due on Friday April 06.
• Cold Chisel have announced the ticketing details for their recently announced shows in Sydney and Melbourne. The shows, at Melbourne’s Festival Hall on April 12 and Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on April 18, will both hit the sales desk on Monday March 19. The band also recently announced the release of a brand new album called ‘No Plans’. It’s out Friday April 06.
• Launceston’s Breath Of Life Festival was held over the weekend, with organisers thrilled to announced that around 16,000 people attended. All up, the event raised more than $70,000 for the Australian Lung Foundation.• In the UK, Gotye and Kimbra maintain their stranglehold on the No.1 spot on the British singles chart with ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’, but Emeli Sande has gained again with her single ‘Next To Me’. Could she possibly be this year’s ‘Adele’? Nicki Minaj’s ‘Starships’ edges higher, Stoosh ftg. Travie McCoy debuts at No.5 with ‘Love Me’, Tinchy Stryder debuts at No.7 with ‘Bright Lights’ (accompanied by Pixie Lott) and X Factor star Marcus Collins premieres at No.9 with his White Stripes cover ‘Seven Nation Army’.
• And Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Wrecking Ball’ has debuted atop the British albums chart, holding off a strong challenge from Military Wives and their album ‘In My Dreams’. Emeli Sande falls to No.3, Lionel Richie’s album ‘Tuskegee’ debuts at No.7 and Katie Melua is in at No.8 with her ‘Secret Symphony’.
