Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock over the past 24 hours, you’ll know that the One Direction Infection has truly taken over Australia. Screams of mega-fan delight have been ringing out across Australia with the boys’ arrival on our shores for a week of promotional activities, which kicked off early this morning with an appearance on Channel 9’s Today Show.
During their visit to the Today set, band member Liam set hearts racing even further, confirming that they’ll be returning to our shores in 2013 for a more comprehensive tour, “Yes we will be coming back with our full arena show to Australia and New Zealand next year. We can‟t thank the fans enough for their support. We‟ll be announcing it all very soon so stay tuned for more details!”
The boys will take to the stage on Friday for the first of four sold out shows, with an appearance on Sunday night’s Logie Awards telecast from Melbourne also locked into the schedule.
One Direction’s arrival in Australia has co-incided with their album ‘Up All Night’ making it to the No.1 spot on the ARIA albums chart – it knocked off Madonna’s ‘MDNA’ to take pole position just this week.
Aussie fans will be further satiated with news that Sony Music will release the band’s live DVD ‘Up All Night : The Live Tour’ in Australia next month.
The DVD, filmed in the UK in January, features a full 70 minute concert from the boys, encompassing tracks from their debut album, the big singles, some cover versions and “a few surprises”.
Also included will be the official videos for the singles ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, ‘Gotta Be You’ and ‘One Thing’, along with a behind-the-scenes documentary, filmed during the band’s UK tour.
‘Up All Night : The Live Tour’ will be released in Australia on Friday May 25.
