Here’s a little something that appeared in our inbox recently – a gorgeous little electro pop track from up and coming Melbourne outfit Deja. The band, made up of members Claire Rayner and Jack Arentz, has spent the best part of two years quietly honing their craft, last year picking up slots on the Parklife tour as well as gigging throughout their home town.
Just recently, however, the band launched their brand new single entitled ‘Atrophy’ (n. a wasting away of the body or of an organ or part, as from defective nutrition or nerve damage). It’s the lead single from the band’s debut album, which is due later in the year.
Now. Just to warn you. The first 15 seconds of the clip features a little dream sequence which might frighten small children and the occasional chocolate bunny, but beyond that it’s all electro sunshine and smiles as the twosome delivers driving beats, dirty grooves and, along with them, a rather curious video which sees both players plagued by images of the nightmares. There’s a spade, some pink hair. The country beckons, a hole is dug. But what comes next?
