The countdown to Eurovision 2012 is well and truly underway, with a smidgen over a month before this year’s competition touches down in the Azerbaijani capital Baku. Once again two semi-finals will see the bulk of the countries battle it out in the hope of progressing through to the Grand Final on Saturday May 26, where waiting will be the big six of the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and host nation Azerbaijan. We’re continuing our daily look at the entries in the lead-up to Eurovision 2012.
TRACKSHITTAZ : Woki Mit Deim Popo
Yes, Trackshittaz. The Austrian hip hop duo of Lukas Plöchl and Manuel Hoffelner will no doubt raise a few eyebrows during the semi finals at Eurovision this year as they take to the stage to perform their single ‘Woki Mit Deim Popo’ (which essentially means ‘Shake Your Ass’). And look there’s plenty of ass shaking going on in the official video (below), which, although really tame, has for some reason has been given an 18+ rating (we’ve seen much worse on the supposedly ‘G’ rated, now defunct ‘Video Hits’).
Trackshittaz have been insanely busy boys, it would appear, having release four (count them) FOUR albums in the last 14 months, achieving No.1 positions on the Austrian albums charts with two of them. Obviously their fellow country folk love them. Let’s find out what the rest of Europe thinks as they take to the stage for semi final No.1 on Tuesday May 22.
