The countdown to Eurovision 2012 is well and truly underway, with just a month and a half before this year’s competition touches down in the Azerbaijani capital Baku. Once again two semi-finals will see the bulk of the countries battle it out in the hope of progressing through to the Grand Final on Saturday May 26, where waiting will be the big six of the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and host nation Azerbaijan. We’re continuing our daily look at the entries in the lead-up to Eurovision 2012.
IVI ADAMOU : La La Love
She may be only 18 years of age, but Cypriot songstress Ivi Adamou has already achieved a generous amount of success in both Cyprus and Greece after she placed sixth in the 2009 Greek edition of ‘The X Factor’. She’s since gone on to enjoy chart successes at home and late last year, was selected as her country’s entry for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.
Ivi will line up in the first semi final on Tuesday May 22, performing ‘La La Love’, an English language single that’s arguably the most commercial we’ve featured thus far. It employs a repetitive, albeit catchy chorus that will no doubt have the minions singing along. And with half a million views thus far, we’d say there’s a fair amount of interest in the Cypriot entry.
