The countdown to Eurovision 2012 is well and truly underway, with just over a month before this year’s competition touches down in the Azerbaijani capital Baku. Once again two semi-finals will see the bulk of the countries battle it out in the hope of progressing through to the Grand Final on Saturday May 26, where waiting will be the big six of the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and host nation Azerbaijan. We’re continuing our daily look at the entries in the lead-up to Eurovision 2012.
COMPACT DISCO : Sound Of Our Hearts
Hungarian four piece Compact Disco have enjoyed quite the ride in their homeland over the past three years. Two albums, a swag of music award nominations, a record deal and an award for Album Of The Year in their homeland – all just the tip of the iceberg for the electronic outfit, who’ll represent Hungary at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. They’re placed in the first semi final (on May 22), so will be competing with the likes of Finland, Israel and Montenegro.
The track they’re fielding is entitled ‘Sound Of Our Hearts’, a song the band hopes will unite the people of the world with love, friendship and compassion. So far so good.
The clip features two very similar looking gentlemen living two very different lives, but each with their own unique set of problems. The track, meanwhile, is a mid-tempo pop track with a fizzing electro beat and crisp vocals. It’s decent enough and the message within is admirable, but we doubt it’s enough for Hungary to be able to take out the title on Saturday May 26.
