The countdown to Eurovision 2012 is well and truly underway, with just over a month and a half before this year’s competition touches down in the Azerbaijani capital Baku. Once again two semi-finals will see the bulk of the countries battle it out in the hope of progressing through to the Grand Final on Saturday May 26, where waiting will be the big six of the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and host nation Azerbaijan.
KURT CALLEJA : This Is The Night
This year’s Maltese entry comes courtesy of 22 year old Maltese singer Kurt Calleja, who’s previously attempted to gain his country’s national selection for Eurovison on two occasions. It’s very much a case of third time lucky for Kurt in 2012, however, as his English language single ‘This Is The Night’ vies for the votes of Europe in the second semi final.
He’s co-penned the uptempo dance/pop track that has a great little hook towards the end of the chorus that’s bound to get audiences across Europe singing along.
The clip? Well there are a few hammy uncomfortable to-camera moments, but once the party starts, you get the feeling Kurt’s well and truly infected by the rhythm.
Kurt will carry the hopes of Malta into the second semi final on Thursday May 24.
