The countdown to Eurovision 2012 is well and truly underway, with less a month before this year’s competition touches down in the Azerbaijani capital Baku. Once again two semi-finals will see the bulk of the countries battle it out in the hope of progressing through to the Grand Final on Saturday May 26, where waiting will be the big six of the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and host nation Azerbaijan. We’re continuing our daily look at the entries in the lead-up to Eurovision 2012.
MANDINGA : Zaleilah
Romanian five piece pop outfit Mandinga have been treading the boards in their home country for the best part of a decade. They’ll tread the boards in the first of the semi finals in Baku to perform their 2012 Eurovision entry ‘Zaleilah’, which is a perky little pop number that contains a bouncy percussive beat, what we’re presuming to be traditional Romanian instrumentation and a very attractive Elena Ionescu out front.
The official video (below) is rather colourful, but it would seem to us that the band has decided to look further afield for locations instead of shooting at home in Romania. The clip was shot on location in Dubai.
