Missy Higgins’ brand new album has been on the Universal Music release schedule for the past few weeks and we’ve been bursting at the seems to tell you, but have been completely under embargo.
But today, it seems, the wraps have come off the project, with Missy revealing the name of her new single (that’d be ‘Unashamed Desire’) and her album (that’s called ‘The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’.
Missy explains on her official website how the album’s name came to be.
“There are a few songs that touch on struggling to juggle the ‘performer’ side of things with the personal,” she says, “And how that led to feeling as though I had metaphorical rock stuck in my throat for a long time; there is a song about my beautiful grandma, a song of frustration at the world’s leaders, songs about an electric kind of love, heartache, desire, and the journey back to my estranged, yet only true love: music. The parody of the ‘entertainer’ is explored on many tracks, thus the album is called The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle. It’s a bit tongue in cheek, you could say.”
The launch of the new LP has included a complete refresh of her official website, along with this lovely little video (below) which sees Missy embarking on her journey in the studio to create the new album.
Fans won’t have to wait too long to get their hands on the single either – the track is due for a digital release on Monday April 23, along with the official video and the ringtone.
‘The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’, meanwhile, is slated for release on Friday June 01.
