US outfit The Black Keys only announced Australian tour dates yesterday, but already ticket sales are going through the roof, forcing organisers to add a second date in Melbourne to cope with demand after the first – at the city’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl – sold out.
As mentioned yesterday, the band has been experiencing chart success in Australia since 2004, but it was only really at the end of last year that the lads really started to hit their chart strides down under, with their album ‘El Camino’ hitting the top five, claiming a platinum accreditation and spawning a No.2 double platinum single (that would, of course, be ‘Lonely Boy’).
Shows have been added in most of the major centres, with tickets for the second Melbourne show on sale now.
