Will she ever shake off the ‘Scary Spice’ tag?
Yes or no, it doesn’t really matter, because Mel B’s star has been rising dramatically since she landed on Australian soil. She impressed many in the TV industry as a judge and mentor on ‘The X Factor’, took to our screens in her efforts to lose 15kgs as the face of ‘Jenny Craig’ and has recently been signed on to host the upcoming series of ‘Dancing With The Stars’.
Now Mel has something else to celebrate, inking a brand new record deal with the team at EMI that will see her releasing her first solo material since 2005’s independently released ‘L.A. State Of Mind’.
Currently in the studio laying down tracks that will form part of a new album, due later this year, Mel said of the deal, “I’m overly excited to finally announce this amazing global partnership deal back home with EMI Music. I know I have mentioned doing music in the past but for legal reasons I was not in a position to release any new music. For my fans, I am happy and proud to say my music WILL be heard this year and that is for sure a promise. I’m over the moon to say the least. Love me or hate me, scary spice is back, hahahaha!!!”
No word yet on a definitive timeline for the new tunes.

Best of luck to her.
Personally, I don’t know what’s worse: reality TV contestants releasing albums or reality TV judges releasing albums. Both are generally cringe-worthy and without the public profile/appeal (that facilitated the release deal) they probably wouldn’t chart at all. Maybe one single… maybe.
Okay, I’m just jealous that they get to re-live their 15 minutes of fame, enjoy it whilst you can Scary, oops I mean Mel (or “Melby” as you call yourself in one tv ad, I know – “Mel B”, I know…). I hope it was worth the long flight all the way over here.

I seriously wanna see her live! She needs to make up for the other girls not being here for the reunion tour!
Hopefully she performs songs off “HOT” and “LA STATE OF MIND”
