Well it’s now May and that can only mean one thing – the Eurovision Song Contest isn’t far away. It’s now just weeks before entrants from across Europe descend on the Azerbaijani capital Baku to take part in the first of the semi finals in this year’s competition. Each semi final consists of 18 performances, with just ten performers from each making it through to the 2012 Grand Final on Saturday May 26, where the ‘big five’ of the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy, along with the host nation Azerbaijan, will be waiting for them. Here at auspOp, we’re continuing our daily look at each of the competitors’ songs in the lead-up to Eurovision 2012.
JEDWARD : Waterline
We covered the new Jedward video when it originally appeared online a couple of weeks ago, but here it is again, this time in Eurovision mode. Those cheeky brothers John and Edward Grimes will be hoping to outdo last year’s Eurovision result when they again take to the stage to represent Ireland in Baku. They line up as the final act in the first semi-final on Tuesday May 22 and will perform ‘Waterline’ – a likeable, uptempo pop track that for some reason has a clip that was filmed in Japan, not Ireland, underlining the boys’ hopes, perhaps, that the track will take them a little further afield than the Azerbaijani capital.
It should see them comfortably through to the Grand Final on May 26.
