We first featured Brisbane outfit Hey Geronimo on the site at the end of last year when their single at the time called ‘Why Don’t We Do Something’ had been picked up by Triple J and was being offered up for free download. Since then the track has gone on to find further favour through high profile advertising campaigns.
Now, however, the band has turned its attention to its brand new single called ‘Carbon Affair’. Like its predecessor, ‘Carbon Affair’ is instantly likeable and recalls some of the classic sounds of ’60s British and American rock. That’s not to say that it’s a massively rocky affair. Apart from the huge crunking guitar solo, it’s an uptempo radio friendly pop/rock track that’s sunshiney bright and entirely catchy – so much so that Triple J’s added it immediately to their playlist.
Hey Geronimo’s debut EP is due for release on July 01.

Stephen Scott says
I can’t believe they’re still giving away songs – they’re such a fresh sound and deserve uber-chart success.
If you haven’t already downloaded “Why Don’t We Do Something” then get your ass into gear. It’s exuberant, exhilarating pop that just makes you want to dance and be happy.
And the tongue-on-cheek “Carbon Affair” shows this isn’t a one-dimensional band. They seem to be channeling classic Beach Boys on this one, in not just a good way, but a great way.
Bring on the EP, and then their debut album. Then another, and another, and another!
