Don’t let the cover image (left) throw you off. Yes, it’s a little distracting, but ‘This Song Is Called Ragged’ is anything but. Opening with a blast of marimba and bursts of percussion, ‘This Song Is Called Ragged’ is a deliciously fresh and uplifting piece of homegrown pop from a young man who impressed many with his debut single ‘A Community Service Announcement’ (which remains one of our favourite Aussie songs of the past ten years).
The clip opens with a minimalistic set, crammed with an assortment of pure white oddments. A number of mannequins staring into the minimalism makes things a little bit creepy, but Director Peanut ~3E~ introduces a little colour into proceedings by blowing things up. Naturally Jonathan runs for his life (see YouTube screen grab below), but soon he can’t keep his excitement in anymore either.
And if you’re a little creeped out by dolls, keep your eyes peeled for something at the end that’ll tip you right over the edge.
