• Brian McFadden and Vogue Williams have announced that they’ll be waltzing down the aisle to The Sunshine State’s new single ‘3 Words’ later this year. Formerly from South Africa, the band now calls Sydney home and will make their first ever TV appearance on ‘Sunrise’ tomorrow morning. The track is available digitally now and is one of a number of new tunes serviced to local radio this week.
• Also doing the media rounds this week are Jay Brannan’s ‘Beautifully’, a remix bundle from Norah Jones’ latest album ‘Little Broken Hearts’, Deadmau5’s ‘The Veldt’, Avicii’s ‘Silhouettes’ and a re-service of Andy Murphy’s latest single ‘Can’t Keep Me’, featuring the vocals of one Andrew De Silva (of ‘Australia’s Got Talent’ and CDB fame).

• A trio of Modular’s favourite young male perfomers are heading out on the road later this month for a trio of shows. Tom Vek, Kindness and Jonathan Boulet will take to the stage to perform from their respective catalogues, with a show at The HiFi in Melbourne on May 24 and one at The Bowler Bar & Tempo Hotel in Brisbane on May 25 before they hit the stage at the Opera House studio for a Vivid Live show on Saturday May 26. Tickets for all are on sale this Friday.
• Little Red vocalist and pianist Tom Hartney has revealed that he’s leaving the group to pursue a future with his new group Major Tom & The Atoms. In a statement released to the press late today, he said, “After six years of extraordinary adventures with my high-school buddies Little Red, I have decided to move on to focus exclusively on my new band Major Tom & The Atoms. Although more recently with Little Red I have mostly found myself behind the keyboards, my true passion has always been singing. Over the years many drunken punters have praised my baritone crooning abilities and now we will find out just how drunk they were…” The band will release their debut EP ‘Shake It ‘Til You Break It’ on Friday June 01.
• Melbourne indie-poppers Brightly (pictured) have revealed their forthcoming new single ‘Sarah’, confirming there will also be a launch gig at the city’s Empress Hotel on the day of release. The song has been described as “a metaphor for the shared experience of being ready to fall in love, but not being sure who with” and will drop everywhere on Saturday May 26.
• Speaking of Melbourne, Music Victoria has reported a huge jump in paid up members after Monday night’s membership drive. Organisers report that membership of the organisation jumped by more than 100% throughout the night, which featured performances from Dan Sultan among others. • The search for Australia’s next big DJ talent is on, with the Your Shot DJ competition now well underway. More than 4000 budding deck peddlers applied in less than two weeks during last year’s competition and once again, competition is expected to be fierce in 2012. • Sony Music has announced the upcoming release of the new album by US rock outfit The Offspring. The lead single from the new album is entitled ‘Cruising California’ and was serviced to media locally earlier this week. The album ‘Days Go By’ is due out on Friday June 29.
• Carly Rae Jepsen has increased her stretch atop the British singles chart for yet another week with her track ‘Call Me Maybe’, but Calvin Harris and Ne-Yo are certainly in the hunt with their new single ‘Let’s Go’, premiering at No.2. Alex Clare moves into the top ten with his single ‘Too Close’ after it was featured in a TV advertising campaign and Train’s ‘Drive By’ moves into the top ten, improving four spots on its No.14 debut last week.
• And Jack White has debuted on top of the British albums chart with his new solo project ‘Blunderbuss’. Adele’s ’21’ fell to No.2, but Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born To Die’ improved to No.3. Rufus Wainwright’s new album ‘Out Of The Game’ debuted at No.5, with Olly Murs’ album ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’ also making up ground. Santigold’s album ‘Master Of My Make Believe’ (which we’re currently giving away copies of – giveaway link in the sidebar) debuted at No.33.
