SBS has officially locked in all the on-air dates for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.
Once again, the semis and grand final will be hosted by the inimitable Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang, who’ll bring their usual breadth of knowledge and the tongue-in-cheek sense of humour that’s virtually mandatory for the broadcast, but there’s so much more in-store.
From next Friday, SBS will re-screen the two part documentary ‘The Secret History Of Eurovision’, which looks back at the past 56 years of the competition, some of the memorable contestants and performances, behind the scenes shenanigans and more.
New in 2012 is a brand new Julia Zemiro-fronted documentary entitled ‘The Road To Eurovision’, which sees Julia take a campervan trip across Europe to discover “what makes a Eurovision star”. She’ll also lift the lid on the Azerbaijani capital Baku, the host city for this year’s competition.
Then it’s the big three – the two semi finals and the grand final of Eurovision 2012. All the colour, the spectacle, the songs, the key changes, the drinking games, Engelbert Humperdinck, the costumes, the dancers… the kitsch!
You can also log on to SBS’s official Eurovision site which contains profiles, live streaming from Eurovision radio, behind the scenes interviews and much more.
