After bursting onto the scene with the cheeky and unique ‘Grace Kelly’ back in 2007, Mika’s pop halo slipped slightly via his sophomore album ‘The Boy Who Knew Too Much’, released three years ago.
Though lead single ‘We Are Golden’ still managed a top ten placing here and in the UK, chart time for it and for subsequent singles ‘Blame It On The Girls’ and ‘Rain’ was limited.
Fans of the chameleonic performer, however, will be thrilled to know that a third Mika album will be in the offing later this year, that he’s worked with our own Nick Littlemore on the project and that he’s just released a short film to accompany a track from it called ‘Make You Happy’.
Mika’s gone to great lengths to point out that this isn’t the first official single from the album, but serves as a little indiction of what to expect when it drops later in the year.
Less layered than its predecessors, it feels less grand, slightly more grounded, but at its heart still purely pop. Gorgeous, luscious, vocoded electro-pop. It’s got us excited for the new album now!
