MARTIKA : Toy Soliders
With the impending Martika tour looming, it forced me to upload my two martika CD albums to my iTunes library and reminisce (and brush up on the lyrics). It’s the first time Martika has visited Australia, even though we were probably her most successful market with multiple top 5 hits. This track was a No.1 hit in the USA, keeping Madonna’s ‘Express Yourself’ from the top spot, and a No.5 hit in Oz. The track was later sampled by Eminem on his track ‘Like Toy Soldiers’. Interestingly Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas and Jennifer Love Hewitt provide backing vocals.
